Our next invasion...

After a little over 3 years in Saskatoon, we are excited to report that we are moving to Bloomington, Illinois!!!  Casey will be the new Crush Superintendent at Cargill's soybean processing plant in town.  Casey started out his Cargill career in Bloomington, and I even lived there for a few months before we moved to Georgia.  It's a fun little town though we will have to get to know the kid-friendly version over the college town this go.

It has been a whirlwind of an adventure so far.  Casey is needed at the plant as soon as possible, so we decided to try to move the family as quickly as possible to avoid months of being apart.  Just a week after Casey accepted the job in Bloomington, the two of us with Kian in tow made the journey to find a house and reacquaint ourselves with the area.  We spent the last week in Bloomington and managed to find a house, register Brogan in school, register Neala for preschool next fall, wait list Brogan for soccer for this spring, register Brogan for baseball this summer and soccer for fall 2014/spring 2015, and find an awesome family friendly gym.

As it stands now, we aim to close on our new house on March 24th.  We are looking forward to each kid having their own bedroom and all the extra space in our new home!  And from our few visits, it looks like Paige and Zoe will have some new friends next door (though I'm not sure if that will be a good thing or a bad thing...to be determined).

Our New Home

I'm already amazed by the cost of things here.  My jaw dropped when I saw 12-packs of soda on sale at Target 5 for $10!  In Saskatoon, 12-packs are regularly about $6 plus environmental fees and deposits.  I'm looking forward to cheap milk, cheese, and poultry as well!

We sure are going to miss our Canadian home (well...maybe not the actual house).  I cannot say enough good things about Saskatoon.  It is a great place to live and raise a family.  The only drawback was all the family and friends we left behind in the US.  I hope to have time to do a little reminiscing over the next couple weeks and document some of my favorite Canadian people, places, things, and sayings.
