Our First Visitors

We had our first visitors to Saskatoon this last week.  My mom and Scott arrived on Friday, May 13th and headed home on Sunday, May 22nd.  We were all so excited for their visit...especially Brogan!  He was up between 6:00-6:30 almost everyday and ran straight down to MeMa and PePa.

This is the first time that my mom has visited in the spring and I've actually gotten to spend the entire time with her since I'm not working.  It was really nice!  We did some shopping and of course, it's just not spring if she doesn't plant some flowers for me! I now have a beautiful flower bed in the front of the house and two potted geraniums on the back porch - one named Brogan and one named MeMa.  (Brogan promised MeMa that he would take care of Brogan and MeMa.)

We also went swimming at Lakewood Civic Centre, explored the 1910 Boomtown Western Development Museum (VERY cool!), walked around Kinsmen Park and down by the South Saskatchewan River.  Tuesdays are $2 movie days at the Rainbow Cinema, so we took Brogan (and Neala) to see Hop...glad we only paid $2!!!

Brogan's excitement for the week was getting a new bicycle (an early birthday present from MeMa and PePa).  He is still a little hesitant, but I'm afraid he is going to pick it up faster than I would like.  The day after he got the bike, he had his first spill.  He is such a dramatic little guy.  He was very upset and when he saw the blood coming from his skinned up knee, he said, "I don't want to die!"

Neala also got her first taste of rice cereal while MeMa and PePa were here.  She LOVES it...grabs for the spoon and tries to feed herself and cries when it's all gone.

One of the most amazing things about the week was watching everything bloom!  The trees were barely starting to bloom when mom and Scott arrived, but by the time they left, the trees were all green, the hostas were popping up, and the some of the flowers were even blooming.  The apple tree(s) in the backyard is full of blooms which means we will be overwhelmed with apples in the fall.  I am looking for some good apple recipes.  Word is that the neighbors might bake us an apple pie if we send some apples their way!

It was a great week!  But it was very hard to see MeMa and PePa go...particularly hard for Brogan.  We consoled him by telling him that his Nonny was going to be here in two weeks.  Since he has no concept of time, he thought that meant that she was showing up the next day!  Every day now, he asks if Nonny is coming tomorrow!  We try to tell him how many long naps (nights) he has to take, but it's still too many for him to comprehend.  But he is excited!!!  Watch out Nonny!!!
